There are a multiple of options available for computer systems, such things as "Monitors" which are produced in two basic forms, CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) and TFT (Thin Film Transistor) screens. Both have benefits, CRT at the moment offer good value for money. On the down side they are bulky, and power hungry.
TFT on the other hand are about three times the price of CRT screens. Their benefits are that they have a much smaller foot print (Take less space on your desk) weigh a lot less, and use far less power. You pay your money, and take your choice.

Hard Drives are another device that needs some consideration, it's good practice to always choose a Hard Drive twice the size that you think you will need. If you think a 40 Gigabyte Drive is large enough, then specify a 80 Gigabyte Hard Drive.

With the availability of value for money ComboDVD/CD-RW Drives, it's always a good idea to include one in your specification, CD-RW Drives are invaluable for backing up your data, and of course they also serve as a conventional CD/DVD drive to allow you to play your normal CD/DVD's.

The choice of CPU ( Central Processing Unit, the brain of the Computer) will depend on what tasks you require your computer to perform. If games are your thing, then you need speed, the faster the better, the same goes for Graphic cards, but be warned. .. before you change graphic cards for an all singing all dancing, run at the speed of light expensive piece of PCB, check the one you have fitted.
Most onboard graphic systems will give a good account of themselves with games, and the like, some graphic cards can cost several hundred pounds, and give very little improvement to the displayed image. .. if any!!
For general office administration tasks, a middle of the road CPU will more than cope with your needs, the only time that speed will benefit is if you use large Graphic files (Photographs and the like) The same goes for the Internet, CPU speed will do little for Internet connection speeds. Likewise if you download files from the Internet, you are governed by the amount of traffic using the server (Internet Site) that you are downloading data from.

Systems for general home/office use are available from £389.00 phone 01773 546512 for full details, and options. ( The above will come with a 80 Gigabyte Hard Drive as Standard, and a 15 Inch TFT Flat Monitor) Operating System: Windows XP Home installed with Disk, and Manual.
The addition of a printer, and scanner to the above system will cost from £109.00 depending on your choice of both items. That will provide you with a complete system including Printer, Scanner, Speakers, Modem, Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor (15 Inch TFT Flat Panel)
The above complete system will cost you £498.00. (Some system builders have the same system on offer at £695.00!!!!! so take care)

As mentioned on our Home Page, we offer a "Fault Find and Fix Service". .. with no Fix, no Charge. If we can't fix it, you don't pay!! Want to know more? phone 01773 546512
The basic charge for the service, assuming we are able to fix the problem, is £15.00 plus the cost of any parts that may be required. The service applies to any Computer you may have, no matter who supplied/built the system.
We have been involved in Computers since the mid seventies, yes I know. .. a long time! and became involved through digital communication modes. At the time, the only digital modes available were "Morse" and "Teleprinters" and Teleprinters were both wired, and wireless, and used a electromechanical device to both recover, and send the transmitted/received data. Teleprinters were both bulky, and very noisy, and required a high level of maintenance.
With the advent of the Integrated Circuit all that changed, a small device could perform all the tasks previously undertaken by teleprinters, and a lot more at much lower cost.
The development of early Integrated Circuits has resulted in the advance of digital communications as we know them today, and has resulted in the development of such things as the internet, mobile phones, data communications by the emergency services, digital television, pagers, communication systems used by air traffic control, the coastguard service, and the many digital modes enjoyed by Radio Amateurs. All that from a device which is a fraction the size of a teleprinter.
